Henry I of Germany, also known as Henry the Fowler, was the Duke of Saxony and the first King of the Germans from 919 until his death in 936. He is credited with laying the foundations for the Holy Roman Empire and strengthening the German monarchy. His reign marked the beginning of the Ottonian dynasty, which would play a significant role in European history.
Henry I faced numerous challenges, including invasions from the Magyars and Vikings. He successfully defended his kingdom and expanded its territories through military campaigns and strategic alliances.
