Henry E. Huntington
Henry E. Huntington was an American businessman and philanthropist, born on February 27, 1850, in Oneonta, New York. He played a significant role in the development of the Southern California region, particularly through his investments in railroads and real estate. Huntington was instrumental in the expansion of the Pacific Electric Railway, which connected various cities in the area.
In addition to his business ventures, Huntington was a notable art collector and established the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California. This institution houses a vast collection of rare books, manuscripts, and artworks, reflecting his commitment to education and culture. Huntington passed away on May 26, 1927.
