Henry Cowell
Henry Cowell was an American composer and music educator, born on March 11, 1897, in Menlo Park, California. He is best known for his innovative approach to music, incorporating unconventional techniques and exploring new sounds. Cowell's work often featured the use of extended piano techniques, where he would play inside the piano or use unusual methods to create unique tones.
In addition to composing, Cowell was a significant figure in music education and helped promote the works of other composers, including John Cage and Lou Harrison. He founded the New Music Society and was instrumental in the development of modern American music. Cowell passed away on December 10, 1965.
