Hemimetabolous Development
Hemimetabolous development is a type of insect growth that involves three main stages: egg, nymph, and adult. Unlike complete metamorphosis, where larvae look very different from adults, nymphs resemble smaller versions of the adult insects. They gradually grow and undergo several molts, shedding their exoskeletons as they develop.
This process is common in insects like grasshoppers, cockroaches, and dragonflies. During each molt, nymphs may change in size and appearance, but they do not undergo a dramatic transformation. This gradual development allows them to adapt to their environment as they grow into their adult forms.
