Hemimetabolism
Hemimetabolism is a type of insect development characterized by incomplete metamorphosis. In this process, insects hatch from eggs as nymphs, which resemble smaller versions of the adult form. As they grow, nymphs undergo several molts, gradually developing adult features without a distinct pupal stage.
Common examples of insects that exhibit hemimetabolism include grasshoppers, cockroaches, and dragonflies. These insects typically live in environments where they can find food and shelter, allowing them to thrive as they transition from nymphs to fully developed adults.
