Heliopolitan creation myth
The Heliopolitan creation myth originates from ancient Egypt, specifically the city of Heliopolis. It describes the emergence of the world from the primordial waters known as Nun. From these waters, the first god, Atum, arose and created himself, symbolizing the beginning of existence.
Atum then produced the first divine couple, Shu (air) and Tefnut (moisture), who in turn gave birth to Geb (earth) and Nut (sky). This myth illustrates the interconnectedness of the gods and the natural elements, forming the foundation of the ancient Egyptian understanding of creation and the cosmos.
