Hector's dolphin
Hector's dolphin is a small marine mammal native to the coastal waters of New Zealand. It is one of the world's rarest dolphins, characterized by its rounded dorsal fin and a robust body. Adults typically grow to about 1.2 to 1.5 meters in length and weigh around 40 to 60 kilograms.
These dolphins primarily inhabit shallow waters and are known for their playful behavior. They feed on a diet of fish and squid, using echolocation to locate their prey. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect Hector's dolphin from threats such as habitat loss and fishing bycatch.
