Hawkmoths
Hawkmoths, belonging to the family Sphingidae, are large, robust moths known for their swift flying abilities. They are often recognized by their streamlined bodies and long, narrow wings, which allow them to hover in front of flowers while feeding on nectar. Many species are active during the day and are attracted to brightly colored blooms.
These moths are found worldwide, with a diverse range of species inhabiting various environments. Their caterpillars, known as hornworms, are often green and can resemble twigs or leaves, providing excellent camouflage. Hawkmoths play a crucial role in pollination, contributing to the health of ecosystems.
