Harpagornis
Harpagornis is a genus of large, extinct birds of prey known as the Haast's eagle. These birds lived in New Zealand during the late Pleistocene epoch, around 1.8 million to 600 years ago. Harpagornis was one of the largest eagles ever, with wingspans reaching up to 3 meters (10 feet) and weighing around 15 kilograms (33 pounds).
Harpagornis primarily hunted large flightless birds, such as the moa, which were native to New Zealand. Its powerful build and keen eyesight made it an effective predator in its environment. The extinction of the moa and habitat changes contributed to the decline of Harpagornis, leading to its eventual extinction.
