Hans Wilsdorf
Hans Wilsdorf was a German-born entrepreneur best known for founding the luxury watch brand Rolex. Born in 1881, he moved to England in his youth, where he began his career in the watch industry. Wilsdorf aimed to create high-quality, reliable wristwatches, which were relatively new at the time.
In 1905, he established the company Wilsdorf & Davis, which later became Rolex in 1908. Wilsdorf was a pioneer in promoting wristwatches as fashionable and practical accessories. His innovations, such as the first waterproof watch, the Oyster, helped solidify Rolex's reputation as a leader in horology.
