Hans Lippershey
Hans Lippershey was a Dutch spectacle maker born in 1570, known for his significant contribution to the invention of the telescope. In 1608, he applied for a patent for a device that could magnify distant objects, which he called a "kijker" or "viewer." His invention laid the groundwork for future advancements in astronomy and exploration.
Although Lippershey was not the only person working on similar devices, he is often credited with the first practical telescope. His work inspired other scientists, including Galileo Galilei, who improved upon the design and made groundbreaking astronomical discoveries, such as the moons of Jupiter.
