Half-Wave
A "Half-Wave" refers to a type of signal or waveform that only utilizes one half of a complete cycle. In electrical engineering, this is often seen in half-wave rectifiers, which convert alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC) by allowing only one half of the AC waveform to pass through. This results in a pulsating DC output.
In audio and communication systems, half-wave signals can also describe the modulation of sound waves or radio frequencies. By transmitting only one half of the wave, it can simplify the design of certain devices, although it may lead to less efficient energy use compared to full-wave systems.
