Hair Structures
Hair structures consist of three main parts: the hair shaft, the hair follicle, and the hair bulb. The hair shaft is the visible part of the hair that extends above the skin. It is made of a protein called keratin, which gives hair its strength and resilience. The hair follicle is a tiny pocket in the skin that anchors the hair and is responsible for its growth.
The hair bulb is located at the base of the hair follicle and contains living cells that divide and grow to form new hair. Surrounding the bulb are sebaceous glands that produce oil to keep the hair moisturized. Together, these structures play a crucial role in hair health and growth.
