HMS Terror
HMS Terror was a British Royal Navy ship launched in 1813, originally designed for exploration and later used in polar expeditions. It is best known for its role in the ill-fated Franklin Expedition of 1845, which aimed to find the Northwest Passage. The ship was equipped for Arctic conditions and carried a crew of 129 men.
After becoming trapped in ice in Canada's Arctic, the HMS Terror and its sister ship, HMS Erebus, were abandoned by the crew. The fate of the crew remained a mystery for many years, but the ship was eventually discovered in 2016, providing insights into the expedition's tragic end.
