HMS Sirius
HMS Sirius was a Royal Navy ship launched in 1780, originally designed as a frigate. It played a significant role in the First Fleet, which transported convicts from Great Britain to Australia in 1787. The ship was notable for its speed and ability to carry a large number of passengers and supplies.
After arriving in Botany Bay, HMS Sirius served as the flagship of the new colony. Unfortunately, it ran aground in 1790 during a storm near Norfolk Island and was lost. Despite its short service, the ship remains an important part of Australian maritime history.
