HMS Duke of York
The HMS Duke of York was a British battleship of the King George V class, launched in 1940. It served during World War II, participating in significant naval battles, including the Battle of the North Cape, where it played a crucial role in the sinking of the German battleship Scharnhorst.
After the war, the ship was involved in various peacetime operations and exercises. The HMS Duke of York was eventually decommissioned in 1957 and sold for scrap in 1964, marking the end of its service in the Royal Navy.
