HMS Duke Of York
HMS Duke of York was a British battleship of the King George V class, launched in 1940. It served during World War II, primarily in the Atlantic and Arctic Oceans, and was involved in several significant naval operations, including the sinking of the German battleship Scharnhorst in 1943.
After the war, HMS Duke of York was used for training and as a flagship for the Royal Navy. The ship was decommissioned in 1957 and later scrapped. Its legacy remains as a symbol of British naval power during a pivotal time in history.
