HMS Centaur
HMS Centaur was a light aircraft carrier of the Royal Navy, launched in 1943. It was designed to support naval aviation operations and could carry various aircraft, including de Havilland Sea Vixen and Westland Wessex. The ship played a significant role during the Cold War, participating in various exercises and deployments.
Commissioned in 1953, HMS Centaur served until 1973, undergoing several upgrades throughout its service life. It was notable for its angled flight deck, which allowed for simultaneous launching and landing of aircraft. After decommissioning, the ship was sold for scrap in 1980.
