HANS Device
The HANS Device, or Head and Neck Support Device, is a safety equipment designed to reduce the risk of head and neck injuries in motorsports. It is worn by drivers and attaches to the helmet, providing support during a crash by limiting the movement of the head and neck. This helps prevent dangerous conditions like basilar skull fractures and whiplash.
Developed in the 1980s, the HANS Device has become a standard safety feature in many racing series, including NASCAR and Formula 1. Its effectiveness has been supported by numerous studies, leading to its widespread adoption and contributing to improved driver safety on the track.
