HALO Jump
A HALO jump, or High Altitude Low Opening jump, is a military parachuting technique used to deploy personnel from high altitudes. Jumpers exit an aircraft at altitudes typically above 10,000 feet, allowing them to free-fall for a period before deploying their parachutes at a low altitude. This method helps to minimize detection by enemy radar and enhances stealth during operations.
HALO jumps are often used in special operations missions, where surprise and precision are crucial. The technique requires extensive training and specialized equipment, including oxygen systems for high-altitude jumps. It is commonly associated with elite military units, such as the United States Navy SEALs and British SAS.
