Guttation
Guttation is a natural process in plants where water is expelled from their leaves, usually at night or early morning. This occurs when the soil moisture is high, and the plant takes up more water than it can use. The excess water is released through specialized structures called hydathodes, which are found at the leaf margins.
During guttation, tiny droplets of water can be seen on the leaf tips. This process is different from transpiration, where water vapor is lost through small openings called stomata. Guttation helps maintain water balance in the plant and can also aid in nutrient transport.
