Guardian Statues
Guardian statues are protective figures often found in various cultures around the world. They are typically placed at entrances to temples, homes, or important sites to ward off evil spirits and ensure safety. These statues can take many forms, including human figures, animals, or mythical creatures, and are often intricately designed to convey strength and vigilance.
In Buddhism, for example, guardian statues known as Dvarapala are commonly positioned at temple gates. Similarly, in Japanese culture, Komainu statues, resembling lion-dogs, serve a similar protective purpose. These statues not only provide security but also reflect the artistic and spiritual values of the cultures that create them.
