Guardian Lion
The "Guardian Lion," also known as a Foo Dog or Shishi, is a traditional Chinese sculpture often found at the entrances of temples, palaces, and homes. These stone or bronze figures are typically depicted in pairs, with one male holding a ball and the other female with a cub, symbolizing protection and harmony.
Guardian Lions are believed to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune. Their design is characterized by fierce expressions and intricate details, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Chinese art. They have also influenced similar sculptures in other cultures, including Japanese and Korean traditions.
