The guanaco is a wild South American camelid native to the Andes mountains and surrounding regions. It is closely related to the llama and is known for its long neck, slender body, and short, coarse fur, which is typically light brown with white underparts. Guanacos are herbivores, primarily grazing on grasses and shrubs, and they live in herds for protection against predators.
Guanacos are well-adapted to their harsh environments, capable of thriving in high altitudes and extreme weather conditions. They can run at speeds of up to 56 kilometers per hour (35 miles per hour) and are known for their agility. Their population is stable, and they are not currently considered endangered.
