Greater Short-horned Lizard
The Greater Short-horned Lizard (*Phrynosoma hernandesi*) is a small, flat-bodied reptile found primarily in the western United States and parts of Canada. This lizard is known for its distinctive short horns and spiny skin, which help it blend into its arid surroundings. It typically inhabits grasslands, shrublands, and rocky areas, where it feeds on ants and other small insects.
These lizards are well-adapted to their environment, using their camouflage to avoid predators. When threatened, the Greater Short-horned Lizard can flatten its body and remain motionless, making it difficult for predators to spot. They are also capable of puffing up their bodies to appear larger when threatened.
