Great Seal
The Great Seal of the United States is an official emblem used to authenticate documents issued by the federal government. It features a bald eagle, which represents freedom, holding a shield and arrows, symbolizing the nation's defense and readiness for peace. The seal also includes a banner with the motto “E Pluribus Unum,” meaning "Out of many, one," reflecting the unity of the states.
The Great Seal was first used in 1782 and is used on important documents, such as treaties and presidential proclamations. It is also featured on the reverse side of the one-dollar bill, alongside the image of the pyramid and the Eye of Providence.
