Gratiaen Trust
The Gratiaen Trust is a charitable organization based in Sri Lanka, established in 1993 by the renowned writer Michael Ondaatje. Its primary aim is to promote and support creative writing and literature in the country. The trust provides grants, scholarships, and awards to emerging writers, helping them develop their skills and share their work with a broader audience.
One of the notable initiatives of the Gratiaen Trust is the annual Gratiaen Prize, which recognizes the best original literary work in English by a Sri Lankan author. This award not only highlights the importance of literature in Sri Lanka but also encourages writers to contribute to the rich cultural landscape of the nation.
