Governor of New Mexico
The Governor of New Mexico is the head of the state government and is responsible for enforcing state laws, overseeing the executive branch, and managing the state's budget. The governor also has the power to sign or veto legislation passed by the state legislature, which consists of the New Mexico House of Representatives and the New Mexico Senate.
Elected for a four-year term, the governor can serve a maximum of two consecutive terms. The current governor, as of October 2023, is Michelle Lujan Grisham, who is the first woman to hold this position in New Mexico's history.
