Governor General Of Canada
The Governor General of Canada is the representative of the monarch in Canada, currently King Charles III. This role involves performing ceremonial duties, such as presiding over the opening of Parliament and presenting honors. The Governor General also plays a key role in promoting national unity and Canadian culture.
Appointed by the monarch on the advice of the Prime Minister of Canada, the Governor General serves a term of about five years. The position is largely ceremonial, but the Governor General also has constitutional responsibilities, including giving royal assent to legislation passed by Parliament.
