Government of Oman
The Government of Oman operates as an absolute monarchy, with the Sultan serving as both the head of state and the head of government. The current Sultan, Haitham bin Tariq, ascended to the throne in January 2020, following the death of his cousin, Sultan Qaboos. The Sultan has the authority to issue royal decrees and appoint ministers to oversee various government departments.
Oman's political structure includes a Consultative Assembly, which has limited legislative powers. The assembly consists of elected representatives who can discuss and suggest laws but cannot veto them. This system allows for some public participation while maintaining the Sultan's ultimate control over the country's governance.
