Gorkha National Liberation Front
The Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) is a political organization in India, primarily advocating for the rights and autonomy of the Gorkha people in the Darjeeling region of West Bengal. Founded in the 1980s, the GNLF seeks to establish a separate state called Gorkhaland to address the cultural and political aspirations of the Gorkha community.
The GNLF emerged during a period of unrest and demands for greater self-governance. Its leader, Subash Ghising, played a significant role in mobilizing support for the movement. The organization has been involved in various negotiations with the Indian government to achieve its goals, contributing to the ongoing discourse about regional identity and autonomy in India.
