Gorgonopsia
Gorgonopsia is an extinct group of therapsids that lived during the late Permian period, around 260 million years ago. They are known for their large size, powerful jaws, and sharp teeth, which made them effective predators. Gorgonopsians are often considered to be among the top predators of their time, showcasing a mix of reptilian and mammalian features.
These creatures are characterized by their elongated skulls and distinctive canine teeth, which resemble those of modern carnivores. Gorgonopsia played a significant role in the evolution of mammals, as they are part of the lineage that eventually led to the rise of mammals after the mass extinction event at the end of the Permian.
