Golgi-Apparat
The Golgi-Apparat, or Golgi apparatus, is a cellular organelle found in eukaryotic cells. It plays a crucial role in processing and packaging proteins and lipids that are synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum. The Golgi apparatus modifies these molecules and sorts them for transport to their final destinations within or outside the cell.
Structurally, the Golgi apparatus consists of a series of flattened, membrane-bound sacs called cisternae. It has a distinct polarity, with a receiving side known as the cis face and a shipping side called the trans face. This organization allows for efficient processing and distribution of cellular materials.
