The Golden Hind was a famous ship used by the English explorer Sir Francis Drake in the late 16th century. It is best known for being the first English ship to circumnavigate the globe, completing its journey between 1577 and 1580. The ship was originally named the Pelican, but was renamed the Golden Hind in honor of the emblem of Sir Francis Drake's patron, Sir Christopher Hatton.
Drake's voyage on the Golden Hind was significant not only for exploration but also for its role in piracy against Spanish ships. The ship returned to England laden with treasures, which helped establish Drake as a national hero. Today, the Golden Hind is celebrated as a symbol of adventure and maritime history.
