Goanna
A Goanna is a type of large lizard belonging to the genus *Varanus*, which is part of the monitor lizard family. These reptiles are native to Australia and nearby islands, and they are known for their long bodies, strong limbs, and sharp claws. Goannas can vary in size, with some species growing over two meters long. They are often found in a variety of habitats, including forests, woodlands, and deserts.
Goannas are carnivorous and primarily feed on insects, small mammals, and birds. They are skilled climbers and can often be seen basking in the sun on tree branches or rocks. Some species, like the Perentie and Sand Goanna, are particularly well-known for their speed and agility. Goannas play an important role in their ecosystems as both predators and scavengers.
