Giordano Bruno
Giordano Bruno was an Italian philosopher, mathematician, and astronomer born in 1548. He is best known for his ideas about the universe, which suggested that it is infinite and contains many worlds, challenging the geocentric model of the cosmos. Bruno's thoughts were influenced by the works of Nicolaus Copernicus and the Renaissance humanist movement.
Bruno's beliefs led him to conflict with the Catholic Church, which viewed his ideas as heretical. In 1600, he was tried for heresy and ultimately executed. His legacy endures as a symbol of the struggle for intellectual freedom and the pursuit of knowledge.
