The Gila Monster is a large, venomous lizard native to the southwestern United States and parts of Mexico. Known for its distinctive black and orange or yellow coloration, this reptile is one of the few venomous lizards in the world. Gila Monsters primarily feed on small mammals, birds, and eggs, using their powerful jaws to deliver venom from their salivary glands.
These lizards are generally slow-moving and spend much of their time underground, emerging mainly to feed or during the breeding season. Despite their fearsome reputation, Gila Monsters are not aggressive and will usually retreat when threatened, making them fascinating yet misunderstood creatures in the animal kingdom.
