Gheorghe Maurer was a Romanian politician and lawyer, born on February 23, 1911. He served as the Prime Minister of Romania from 1961 to 1965, during a time when the country was under a communist regime. Maurer was known for his role in promoting economic reforms and improving relations with Western countries. In addition to his position as Prime Minister, Maurer held various important roles within the Romanian Communist Party. He was also a member of the Romanian Academy and contributed to the development of Romania's legal system. Maurer passed away on March 8, 2008.
