Gestational Organ
A gestational organ is a specialized structure that develops during pregnancy to support the growth and development of a fetus. The most well-known gestational organ is the placenta, which connects the developing baby to the mother's blood supply, allowing for the exchange of nutrients, gases, and waste products.
In addition to the placenta, the amniotic sac and umbilical cord are also considered gestational organs. The amniotic sac surrounds the fetus, providing a protective environment filled with amniotic fluid, while the umbilical cord serves as a lifeline, transporting essential substances between the fetus and the placenta.
