Geotropism
Geotropism is the growth response of plants to gravity. It helps plants orient their roots and shoots in the right direction. Roots typically grow downward, toward the gravitational pull, while stems and leaves grow upward, away from it. This ensures that roots can access water and nutrients in the soil, while leaves can capture sunlight for photosynthesis.
There are two types of geotropism: positive and negative. Positive geotropism occurs when roots grow toward gravity, while negative geotropism happens when stems and leaves grow away from it. This process is crucial for the overall health and stability of plants, allowing them to thrive in their environments.
