Georgism
Georgism is an economic philosophy proposed by Henry George in the late 19th century. It advocates for the public ownership of land and natural resources, arguing that the value generated from land should benefit the community rather than individual landowners. This approach aims to reduce inequality and promote fair distribution of wealth.
Under Georgism, a land value tax is suggested as a primary means of funding public services. This tax would be levied on the unimproved value of land, encouraging efficient land use and discouraging speculation. The idea is that everyone can benefit from the value created by society as a whole.
