Georges Lemaître
Georges Lemaître was a Belgian priest, astronomer, and professor born on July 17, 1894. He is best known for proposing the Big Bang theory, which suggests that the universe began from a single point and has been expanding ever since. Lemaître's work laid the foundation for modern cosmology and helped to bridge the gap between science and religion.
In addition to his contributions to astronomy, Lemaître served as a soldier during World War I and later earned a doctorate in physics. He was also a member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and received recognition for his scientific achievements, influencing both scientific and theological discussions about the origins of the universe.
