George IV of the United Kingdom was born on August 12, 1762, and became king in 1820 after the death of his father, George III. He was known for his extravagant lifestyle and love of the arts, which led to significant cultural developments during his reign.
Before becoming king, George IV served as the Prince Regent from 1811 due to his father's mental illness. His reign saw the expansion of the British Empire and notable events like the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. He died on June 26, 1830, and was succeeded by his brother, William IV.
