George I of the United Kingdom
George I of the United Kingdom was the first monarch of the House of Hanover, reigning from 1714 to 1727. He was born in Germany and became king after the death of Queen Anne, as he was a Protestant and a descendant of the Stuart line. His ascension helped ensure the Protestant succession in Britain.
During his reign, George I faced challenges, including political tensions with the Whigs and Tories, the two main political parties of the time. He spent much of his time in Germany, which led to criticism about his commitment to British affairs. His reign marked the beginning of a new era in British monarchy.
