George Gordon, 4th Earl of Huntly
George Gordon, 4th Earl of Huntly (c. 1514–1562) was a prominent Scottish nobleman during the 16th century. He was a member of the Gordon family, one of the most powerful clans in Scotland. As Earl, he played a significant role in the political landscape of the time, often aligning with the Catholic Church and opposing the Protestant Reformation.
Huntly was involved in various conflicts, including the Battle of Corrichie in 1562, where he was defeated by forces loyal to Mary, Queen of Scots. His defeat marked a decline in the influence of the Gordon family, and he was later executed for treason.
