George C. Parker
George C. Parker was an American con artist born in 1860, best known for his audacious scams in New York City. He famously sold the Brooklyn Bridge multiple times to unsuspecting tourists, convincing them they could own a piece of the iconic structure. His charm and confidence made his schemes seem legitimate, allowing him to swindle many people.
Parker's fraudulent activities extended beyond the Brooklyn Bridge; he also sold other landmarks, including Madison Square Garden. His exploits eventually caught the attention of law enforcement, leading to his arrest in 1928. He was sentenced to prison, where he continued to tell tales of his elaborate cons.
