George Bissell
George Bissell was an American businessman and one of the pioneers of the oil industry in the United States. Born in 1824, he played a crucial role in the development of the first commercial oil well in Titusville, Pennsylvania in 1859. His efforts helped to establish the foundation for the modern petroleum industry.
Bissell co-founded the Pennsylvania Rock Oil Company, which later became known as the Standard Oil Company. His innovative techniques in drilling and refining oil significantly contributed to the growth of the oil market, making him a key figure in the history of American industry.
