Geopoetics
Geopoetics is an interdisciplinary approach that combines geography, poetry, and philosophy to explore the relationship between people and their environments. It emphasizes the importance of place and landscape in shaping human experience and cultural identity. By using poetic language and artistic expression, geopoetics seeks to deepen our understanding of how we interact with the world around us.
This concept was notably advanced by the French philosopher Gaston Bachelard and later by Kenneth White, who founded the International Institute of Geopoetics. They argue that literature and art can reveal the emotional and spiritual dimensions of geography, encouraging a more profound connection to the land and its stories.
