General Edward Braddock
General Edward Braddock was a British Army officer born in 1695. He is best known for his role as the commander of British forces during the early stages of the French and Indian War. Braddock led an expedition in 1755 to capture Fort Duquesne, a strategic French stronghold in present-day Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Braddock's campaign faced significant challenges, including difficult terrain and fierce resistance from Native American allies of the French. His forces suffered a devastating defeat at the Battle of the Monongahela, where he was mortally wounded. Braddock's legacy includes lessons learned about military strategy and the importance of adapting to the North American landscape.
