Gemini 9A was a crewed space mission launched by NASA on June 3, 1966. It was part of the Gemini program, which aimed to develop space travel techniques for future Apollo missions. The mission's primary objectives included testing spacecraft rendezvous and docking procedures and conducting extravehicular activities (EVAs).
The crew consisted of astronauts Thomas Stafford and Eugene Cernan. During the mission, Cernan performed a 2-hour and 8-minute EVA, which included a series of tasks outside the spacecraft. Despite facing challenges, such as equipment malfunctions, Gemini 9A successfully completed its objectives and contributed valuable data for future space exploration.
